The 1910 Lincoln cent was the second year of production, struck in a mintage of over 146 million coins at Philadelphia. The newness of the Lincoln design had worn off, and the cent settled into its role as everyday pocket change. The coin is common in all grades and is one of the most affordable early Lincoln Wheat cents.
Mark Twain died in April 1910. The Boy Scouts of America were founded. Halley's Comet made its closest approach to Earth, and some people bought "comet pills" to protect against its tail. The cent that handled these transactions was a coin barely a year old, still crisp in many hands. The 1910 is a bread-and-butter date that fills the album without demanding a story.
