Welcome to Collector's Key, accessible at collectorskey.com (the “Site”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“User,” “you,” or “your”) and the operators of Collector's Key (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account, accessing, browsing, or using any part of the Site, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms in their entirety. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must immediately cease all use of the Site.
1. Description of service
Collector's Key is a free, community-oriented online platform designed for coin collectors. The Site provides:
(a) Reference information for United States and world coins, including historical data, mintage figures, series catalogs, specifications, and coin imagery;
(b) Personal collection management tools that allow registered users to track coins they own or want, organize collections by series, upload personal coin photographs, record grades and purchase prices, and export collection data;
(c) Visual tools such as digital coin albums, set completion trackers, and series progress dashboards;
(d) Educational resources including grading guides, glossaries, and melt value calculators;
(e) An interactive world map and browsing interface for discovering international coin series.
Collector's Key is not a dealer, auction house, brokerage, marketplace, or financial services provider. We do not buy, sell, appraise, grade, authenticate, or facilitate the sale or exchange of coins, currency, bullion, or any other numismatic items. No content on the Site should be interpreted as an offer to buy or sell any item.
2. Eligibility & account registration
2.1 Age requirement. You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account or use interactive features of the Site. If you are between 13 and 18, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and consents to these Terms on your behalf. Users under 13 are strictly prohibited from creating accounts.
2.2 Account creation. Certain features — including collection tracking, photo uploads, album views, and the set completion tracker — require a free registered account. When creating an account, you agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information and to update it as necessary.
2.3 Account security. You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your username and password, and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to or use of your account. We are not liable for any loss or damage resulting from your failure to maintain account security.
2.4 One account per person. Each individual may maintain only one account. We reserve the right to merge or terminate duplicate accounts without notice.
3. User-generated content
3.1 Your content. You may upload photographs, notes, grades, purchase prices, and other data related to your coin collection (“User Content”). You retain full ownership of your User Content at all times.
3.2 License grant. By uploading User Content, you grant Collector's Key a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to store, reproduce, process, display, and transmit that content solely for the purpose of operating, maintaining, and providing the Site's services to you. This license terminates when you delete the content or your account, except to the extent copies exist in routine backups (which are purged on a regular cycle).
3.3 No sale or sharing. We will never sell, rent, license, or distribute your personal collection data — including what coins you own, your photographs, grades, purchase prices, notes, or any other User Content — to any third party for commercial purposes.
3.4 Content standards. You represent and warrant that your User Content: (a) is owned by you or you have all necessary rights to upload it; (b) does not infringe any copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, or other intellectual property right of any third party; (c) does not contain defamatory, obscene, abusive, hateful, threatening, or otherwise objectionable material; (d) does not contain malware, viruses, or harmful code; (e) complies with all applicable laws and regulations.
3.5 Removal. We reserve the right, but assume no obligation, to monitor, review, or remove any User Content at our sole discretion, including content that we believe violates these Terms or is otherwise objectionable.
4. Coin information, pricing & educational content
4.1 Informational purposes only. All coin data, price guides, historical information, mintage figures, melt values, grading descriptions, and other reference material on the Site (collectively, “Reference Content”) is provided solely for educational and informational purposes.
4.2 No guarantee of accuracy. While we make reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy, we do not warrant or guarantee that any Reference Content is complete, current, accurate, or error-free. Coin markets are dynamic; values fluctuate based on market conditions, grading standards, demand, rarity, eye appeal, and numerous other factors that we cannot predict or control.
4.3 Not financial or investment advice. Nothing on this Site constitutes financial, investment, tax, legal, or professional numismatic advice. Do not rely on any information on this Site for purchasing, selling, insuring, or investment decisions. Always consult a qualified professional numismatist, certified grading service (such as PCGS, NGC, or ANACS), licensed financial advisor, or other qualified professional before making decisions involving coin transactions or investments.
4.4 Third-party data. Some Reference Content may be derived from or based on publicly available sources, government records, third-party databases, or community contributions. We do not guarantee the accuracy of third-party data and are not responsible for errors originating from external sources.
5. Intellectual property
5.1 Our property. The Collector's Key name, logo, visual design, layout, user interface, original text, code, and all original content created by us are the exclusive property of Collector's Key and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
5.2 Coin imagery. Coin photographs displayed on the Site may be sourced from public domain references, government mint archives, user contributions, or licensed third-party providers. Attribution is provided where applicable. The inclusion of coin imagery does not imply any endorsement by or affiliation with any mint, grading service, or other organization.
5.3 Restrictions. You may not, without our prior written consent: (a) reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell, or exploit any portion of the Site's design or original content; (b) use data mining, robots, scrapers, or similar data-gathering tools on the Site; (c) frame or mirror any part of the Site; (d) create derivative works based on the Site's content or design.
5.4 Copyright complaints. If you believe that content on the Site infringes your copyright, please contact us with: (a) identification of the copyrighted work; (b) identification of the allegedly infringing material and its location on the Site; (c) your contact information; (d) a statement of good faith belief that the use is unauthorized; (e) a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and you are the copyright owner or authorized agent.
6. Prohibited conduct
You agree that you will not, and will not assist or permit any third party to:
(a) Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Site, other users' accounts, or any systems or networks connected to the Site;
(b) Use any automated means — including bots, crawlers, scrapers, spiders, or data mining tools — to access, collect, or harvest data from the Site without our express written permission;
(c) Interfere with, disrupt, or place an unreasonable load on the Site's infrastructure, servers, or networks;
(d) Transmit any viruses, worms, malware, or other harmful or disruptive code;
(e) Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely state or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity;
(f) Use the Site for any unlawful, fraudulent, or deceptive purpose;
(g) Harvest, collect, or store personal information about other users;
(h) Circumvent, disable, or interfere with any security features of the Site;
(i) Use the Site to send unsolicited commercial messages (spam) or to promote competing services;
(j) Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Site's software.
7. Third-party links, advertisements & affiliate content
7.1 Third-party content. The Site may contain links to third-party websites, affiliate links (such as eBay Partner Network listings), and advertisements served by third-party networks (such as Google Ads). These are provided for your convenience and potential interest. Their presence does not constitute endorsement, sponsorship, or recommendation by Collector's Key.
7.2 No responsibility. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, products, services, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party website or service. Any interactions, transactions, or disputes between you and a third party are solely between you and that third party.
7.3 Affiliate disclosure. Some links on the Site may be affiliate links, meaning we may earn a small commission if you make a purchase through them. This does not affect the price you pay or our editorial independence in presenting coin information.
8. Privacy & data
Your use of the Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your information. By using the Site, you consent to the practices described in our Privacy Policy. Our Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The Site and all content, features, tools, and services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and availability. We do not warrant that: (a) the Site will be available at all times or operate without interruption; (b) the Site will be free of errors, bugs, or security vulnerabilities; (c) any information on the Site is accurate, complete, or current; (d) any data you store on the Site will be preserved indefinitely.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Collector's Key, its operators, affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with: (a) your use of or inability to use the Site; (b) any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in any content; (c) unauthorized access to or alteration of your data or transmissions; (d) statements or conduct of any third party on the Site; (e) any reliance on information provided through the Site; or (f) any other matter relating to the Site. In no event shall our total aggregate liability exceed one hundred U.S. dollars ($100.00).
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Collector's Key, its operators, affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in connection with: (a) your use of the Site; (b) your User Content; (c) your violation of these Terms; (d) your violation of any rights of any third party; or (e) any claim that your User Content caused damage to a third party.
12. Account suspension & termination
12.1 By us. We reserve the right to suspend, restrict, or permanently terminate your account and access to the Site at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including but not limited to: violation of these Terms, suspected fraudulent or abusive activity, extended inactivity, or at our sole discretion for operational reasons.
12.2 By you. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon receiving your request, we will delete your account and associated User Content within a reasonable timeframe, subject to any legal retention obligations.
12.3 Effect of termination. Upon termination, your right to use the Site immediately ceases. Any User Content associated with your account may be permanently deleted and may not be recoverable. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 5, 9, 10, 11, 14, and 15) shall survive.
13. Modifications to the service
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Site (or any feature, tool, or content) at any time, temporarily or permanently, with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Site. We are under no obligation to maintain, support, or update any particular feature.
14. Changes to these terms
We may revise these Terms at any time by posting an updated version on this page. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes may be communicated through a notice on the Site or via email to registered users. Your continued use of the Site after the posting of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Site and may request account deletion.
15. Governing law & dispute resolution
15.1 Governing law. These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States and the State in which Collector's Key operates, without regard to conflict of law principles.
15.2 Dispute resolution. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If the dispute cannot be resolved informally within thirty (30) days, either party may pursue resolution through binding arbitration or in a court of competent jurisdiction, at the election of the claimant.
15.3 Class action waiver. To the extent permitted by law, you agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis, not as a class action, class arbitration, or other representative proceeding.
16. General provisions
16.1 Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Collector's Key regarding the Site and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
16.2 Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
16.3 Waiver. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
16.4 Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms or any rights hereunder without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.
16.5 No agency. Nothing in these Terms creates any agency, partnership, joint venture, or employment relationship between you and Collector's Key.
16.6 Force majeure. We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations under these Terms where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, acts of government, internet outages, power failures, or cyberattacks.
