About this coinHistory

The 1954 Lincoln cent from Philadelphia was produced in approximately 71.9 million coins, a lower figure than the surrounding years. The lower mintage does not make the 1954 scarce but does make it slightly less common than the peak-production dates of the early 1950s. Brown v. Board of Education was decided in May. The Army-McCarthy hearings dominated television. The cent is available in all grades.
