The 1955 proof was struck in approximately 378,200 proofs. The proof program had grown enormously since its 1950 resumption. The 1955 proof is a standard entry in the series, collected within the annual proof sequence. The proof version does not exhibit the Doubled Die error, which occurred only on circulation-strike dies at Philadelphia.
