The 1958-D Lincoln cent was the final Wheat cent struck at a branch mint. Denver produced approximately 800.9 million coins, an enormous output that ensures the coin will never be scarce. The 1958-D is the last D-mint Wheat cent and pairs with the 1958 Philadelphia cent as the two-coin set that closed the Wheat reverse era. After 1958, the Wheat stalks gave way to the Lincoln Memorial, and the most collected coin series in American numismatics moved to its next chapter.
