2013-D Woodrow Wilson, NIFC

Denver struck 3,360,000 Woodrow Wilson dollars and released them on October 17, 2013, the fourth and final design of the program year and one of the lowest Denver figures of the four 2013 issues. Production sat firmly inside the post-NIFC plateau the Mint settled into for 2013 after the 2012 cutover that ended commercial-bank distribution of new Presidential Dollars. From January 2012 forward the four annual designs were struck only for collector products, and the 2013 Denver Wilson run reflects that contracted demand profile rather than a circulating coin's release schedule. Don Everhart designed the obverse Wilson portrait and the standing-Liberty reverse used on every business-strike and proof Presidential Dollar across the series, paired with the standard incused edge inscription carrying the date, mintmark, IN GOD WE TRUST, and E PLURIBUS UNUM.

Strike quality on the 2013-D Wilson runs strong because the lower NIFC-era output meant fresher die life and slower wear; the high points of Wilson's hair and the upper detail on the Liberty reverse hold sharply on Mint-fresh examples. The alloy behavior is the same authentication anchor as the rest of the program: manganese-brass tones aggressively to honey, olive, or rose within a year or two of striking, and a coin showing bright lemon-yellow surfaces a decade after issue almost always indicates cleaning or chemical rinsing. Bag and roll handling marks on Wilson's cheek and the open obverse fields remain the dominant grade-limiter at MS66 and MS67. PCGS, the Professional Coin Grading Service, and NGC, the Numismatic Guaranty Company, both grade the date routinely.

The 2013-D Wilson sold to collectors only, packaged in 25-coin rolls, 250-coin boxes, and the annual Mint Set. Original Mint-wrapped rolls remain the most efficient path for collectors building a year-set or first-NIFC-year subset, and certified MS67 examples often cost less than searching multiple rolls for an upper-end coin. The combined 2013 Wilson total of 7.98 million across both circulation mints sits on the low side of the 40-coin program and slots into its lowest-mintage cluster of 2012 to 2016 collector-only issues.
