Philadelphia struck 26,496,000 Kennedy halves in 1995, the highest single-mint figure of the four-year stretch from 1992 through 1995 and one of the higher 1990s totals overall. The bump in production sat alongside what became one of the most collector-active years of the modern era: 1995 was the year of the 1995-W Proof Silver Eagle (offered only with the five-coin Philadelphia Mint Anniversary Set, now a four-figure key), the 1995 Double Die Obverse Lincoln cent (a major variety), and several Roosevelt dime varieties, all of which drew set-completion buyers into 1995-dated material across denominations. The Kennedy half rode some of that secondary attention even though it carries no equivalent variety drama of its own. Composition stayed standard: 75% copper, 25% nickel outer clad over a pure copper core at 11.34 g, 30.6 mm with a reeded edge. The P mintmark sits above the date on the obverse.

Strike characteristics on the 1995-P run unevenly. Mid-1990s Philadelphia output shows the typical wear-pattern variability of busy dies, with some pieces sharply struck across the hair detail above the ear and others soft in the same area. The eagle's breast feathers and arrow shafts remain the standard grade-distribution choke points, and the cheek and jaw still carry the bag-mark concentration that defines the MS66-to-MS67 transition for the entire modern series. PCGS, the Professional Coin Grading Service, and NGC, Numismatic Guaranty Company, populations are large at MS65 and MS66, with MS67 examples showing full strike and clean cheek noticeably scarcer. Authentication is straightforward at this composition with no counterfeit concern, and the layered rim construction confirms genuine cupronickel clad. Roberts's GR initials at the neck truncation and Gasparro's FG to the right of the eagle's tail feathers complete the standard design package.

For collectors the 1995-P sits in an interesting middle position: a common date in raw and lower Mint State terms, but a year whose entire denomination pool has seen heightened attention from 1995-focused set builders chasing the year's broader varieties. Original 1995 Mint Set rolls remain the cleanest raw source for MS66 candidates, and the certified market shows modestly higher MS67 pricing for the date than for adjacent 1994 or 1996 issues. The premium is collector-attention driven rather than scarcity driven.
