About this coinHistory

The 2005-P Bison Satin Finish Jefferson nickel was produced for inclusion in Uncirculated Mint Sets. The satin finish gives the coin a distinctive appearance between standard business strikes and proofs, with subtle luster and crisp strike detail. The Mint began producing satin finish Uncirculated Set coins in 2005 and continued the practice through 2010.

The 2005-P Bison Satin Finish is relatively uncommon outside of original Mint set packaging. Loose examples command modest premiums over standard 2005-P business strikes. Collectors building comprehensive modern Jefferson nickel collections acquire satin finish examples as distinct entries from the standard circulation strikes.
