About this coinHistory

Denver struck 615,600,000 Jefferson nickels in 2013, slightly higher than the Philadelphia output for the year and continuing Denver's historically larger production volumes. The coin is common in all grades and readily available in Mint State at minimal premiums. Strike characteristics follow the standard modern Denver pattern, with slightly softer Monticello step detail than typical Philadelphia examples.

The 2013-D continued the post-Satin Finish Mint Set format and was distributed alongside the 2013-P in the year's standard burnished-finish Uncirculated Coin Set. The 2013 Mint Set contained the year's circulating denominations and all five America the Beautiful Quarters, making it a substantial multi-coin product despite the simpler single-finish format.

For collectors building complete Jefferson nickel sets, the 2013-D is a routine acquisition that pairs with the 2013-P to complete the year's circulation strike representation.
