About this coinHistory

The 1892 Indian Head cent was struck in approximately 37.6 million coins. The Homestead Strike in Pennsylvania, one of the most violent labor disputes in American history, erupted in July 1892 when locked-out steelworkers battled Pinkerton agents hired by Carnegie Steel. The cent that the strikers and the Pinkertons both carried in their pockets was the same coin. The 1892 is a common date, available without difficulty.
