About this coinHistory

The 1905 Indian Head cent was produced in approximately 80.7 million coins. The coin is a common date, available in all grades. The Indian Head design had been in production for 46 years, making it one of the most enduring designs in American coinage. Longacre's original 1859 concept had survived the Civil War, two depressions, a composition change, and the redesign of nearly every other denomination in the Mint's catalog.
