About this coinHistory
The 1908 Indian Head cent from Philadelphia was struck in a mintage of approximately 32.3 million coins. The year is historically significant because it marks the first time Indian Head cents were produced at a branch mint (San Francisco struck the 1908-S, a separate coin). For fifty years, the Indian Head cent had been exclusively a Philadelphia product. The 1908 P-mint cent is a common date.
