The 1918 Lincoln cent from Philadelphia was struck in approximately 288.1 million coins, the highest single-year output to that point in the series. World War I was in its final year. The Mint was producing cents at a pace that reflected the wartime economy's enormous appetite for coinage. The armistice came in November. The 1918 is one of the most common Wheat cents, plentiful in every grade.
