About this coinHistory

The Philadelphia Mint produced over 4.64 billion cents in 1992. The economy was still sluggish, and the recession became a central issue in the presidential campaign. Bill Clinton defeated President Bush and independent candidate Ross Perot in November. The Los Angeles riots erupted in April after the acquittal of police officers in the Rodney King beating case, causing extensive destruction and 63 deaths.

The 1992 Philadelphia cent carries no mintmark and is common in all grades. Collectors should note that a significant variety, the 1992 Close AM, also exists from this year's Philadelphia production.
