About this coinHistory

The 2005-D Satin Finish cent was the Denver counterpart included in the Uncirculated Mint Set. Like the Philadelphia version, it was struck on a burnished planchet with specially prepared dies, producing the distinctive satin surface that replaced the standard business-strike finish in the Mint's uncirculated sets starting that year.

The "D" mintmark identifies it as a Denver product. Approximately 1.26 million sets were produced, each containing both the Philadelphia and Denver satin cents. The satin finish is visually distinct from regular circulation strikes and provides a different collecting experience. The 2005-D Satin Finish is affordable and available from dealers who break apart or sell complete uncirculated sets.
