The figure sits inside the typical 2014 through 2015 proof band and reflects the steady demand collectors maintained for the multi-year set deep into the NIFC stretch. Don Everhart designed and sculpted both sides, the only 2015 design with both faces credited to a single Mint sculptor. The S mintmark sits on the edge alongside the date and the legends IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM, applied in a third strike after the proof dies impress the faces.

The 2015-S Truman shows the deeply mirrored fields and frosted devices typical of late-program San Francisco proof production, with strong cameo contrast where the satin texture of the portrait, the Statue of Liberty, and the lettering meet the polished background. Strike is sharp on the central obverse, where the high-relief portrait would be the first detail to soften on a worn die. Watch for hairline marks across the open mirrors of the obverse field and around the Statue of Liberty: most Proof 69 Deep Cameo to Proof 70 Deep Cameo grading splits at this end of the program turn on a single field hairline visible only under angled light.

The 2015-S Truman proof is essentially never sold as a single. PCGS, the Professional Coin Grading Service, and NGC, the Numismatic Guaranty Company, populate Proof 69 Deep Cameo and Proof 70 Deep Cameo heavily, and modern proofs in those grades trade at small premiums above raw set prices. The Truman proof shares its Statue of Liberty reverse with the 2015-P Reverse Proof from that summer's Coin and Chronicles Set, the difference being the inversion of frosted and mirrored surfaces.
