About this coinHistory

The 1824 large cent had a healthy mintage and is available in circulated grades. After the key-date rarity of the 1823, the 1824 represents a return to normalcy for collectors working through the Coronet Head set. Examples in Good to Fine are findable, and the date does not carry premiums beyond what its age and the general demand for early copper warrant.

The 1824 also exists as the 1824/2 overdate, which is collected separately. The standard-date coin is the more common of the two and serves as the primary entry for the year in most collections.
