About this coinHistory

Denver struck 626,160,000 Jefferson nickels in 2007, slightly higher than the Philadelphia output for the year and continuing the high-volume modern production pattern. The coin is abundant in all grades and readily available in Mint State at minimal premiums. Like the 2007-P, the 2007-D presents the standard modern Jefferson nickel collecting profile: easy at standard grades, more challenging in MS67 Full Steps and above.

Denver Jefferson nickel production has historically had slightly different strike characteristics than Philadelphia, with Denver coins often showing softer step detail on Monticello's reverse architecture. This pattern continued into the 2000s, and Denver Full Steps examples are typically scarcer than Philadelphia FS coins of the same year. Specialists building complete Jefferson nickel sets in Full Steps face the Denver issues as the more difficult acquisitions across the modern series.

For date set collectors, the 2007-D is a routine acquisition. Modern Jefferson nickel collecting at the date-set level can be accomplished through Mint Sets or roll searching, with both Philadelphia and Denver issues readily available in Mint State condition without significant cost.
