About this coinHistory

The 1942 proof Lincoln cent was the last proof struck before the wartime suspension. Approximately 32,600 proofs were produced. Proof production would not resume until 1950. The 1942 proof is the terminal issue of the pre-war proof era and pairs with the 1950 proof as the bookend of the eight-year gap.
