About this coinHistory

Denver produced over 4.44 billion cents in 1986, bearing the "D" mintmark. The Statue of Liberty's centennial celebration on July 4 drew millions of spectators to New York Harbor, with tall ships and fireworks marking the occasion. President Reagan presided over the rededication ceremony.

The 1986-D is common and widely available in all grades. It circulated alongside its Philadelphia counterparts during a year that combined celebration and grief. Collectors add it to their sets without difficulty or expense.
