About this coinHistory

The Philadelphia Mint produced 6.5 billion cents in 1994. The year's biggest story was the O. J. Simpson case: the former football star was charged with murder in June after a televised slow-speed police chase captivated the nation. Midterm elections in November produced a Republican sweep of Congress, ending 40 years of Democratic control of the House of Representatives.

The 1994 Philadelphia cent carries no mintmark and is common in all grades. Billions were produced to feed the needs of everyday commerce. Collectors treat it as an unremarkable but necessary entry in the series.
