About this coinHistory

Denver produced over 5.37 billion cents in 2001, bearing the "D" mintmark. The September 11 attacks overshadowed everything else that year. The economy, already weakened by the burst of the dot-com bubble and a mild recession, suffered further disruption as consumer confidence collapsed and the stock market plunged.

The 2001-D is common in all grades and readily available to collectors. Like its Philadelphia counterpart, it is a coin of immense historical resonance even as it remains numismatically ordinary.
