About this coinHistory

Denver's 2019 American Memorial mintage came in at 172,400,000 pieces, lower than the Philadelphia counterpart for the design and the only 2019 P-D pair where Denver fell below the Philadelphia output by a meaningful margin. The reversal breaks the usual late-series pattern and likely reflects Federal Reserve order weighting toward eastern districts for this particular design. Richard Masters's reverse depicts the Memorial Court of Honor at the park, with a reflecting pool, a young woman laying flowers at the wall, and a child saluting in the foreground. The Northern Mariana Islands park honors the Pacific campaign dead, and the design is the most overtly commemorative of the 2019 ATB lineup.

Production characteristics at Denver during the 2019 cycle render the small relief details slightly fuller than Philadelphia in side-by-side comparison. The child's salute gesture and the woman's floral bundle are the engraving features that most reward a sharp strike, and D-mint examples typically show stronger definition there. Die-wear sequence on the design runs the inscribed memorial wall first (the rows of names soften into a flat surface), then the floral bundle, then the figures themselves; coins with a soft wall but a sharp salute are middle die state and almost always grade MS66. The clad composition runs the standard 75% copper-nickel over a pure copper core, 5.67 grams. PCGS, the Professional Coin Grading Service, and NGC handle premium-grade authentication.

The 2019-D American Memorial is a Regular classification entry, common raw and through MS66 and turning into a condition rarity at MS68. The 2019-W release for the same design, 2 million pieces from the historic first West Point circulating run, sits in a separate catalog tier. Population reports show the D-mint moderately available at MS67, with the curve thinning quickly above. Registry buyers building the 56-coin clad set pair the P and D 2019 American Memorial as a single tier.
