About this coinHistory

San Francisco struck only 30,000 of the 2025-S Arkansas Reverse Proof, matching the floor established across the 2024 Reverse Proofs (Illinois, Alabama, Maine, and Missouri all at 30,000 apiece) and one of the smallest reverse-proof outputs in the Innovation Dollar series. The coin shipped exclusively in the 2025 American Innovation Dollar Reverse Proof Set, a four-coin product bundling Arkansas with the year's Florida, Michigan, and Texas designs, with strict household ordering limits at sale. The closed channel and capped order count drove the 2025 total well under the matching standard proof: 800,000 standard proofs against 30,000 reverse proofs for the Arkansas design alone, a ratio of better than 26 to 1. The reverse, designed by Elana Hagler (Artistic Infusion Program) and sculpted by United States Mint Medallic Artist Eric David Custer, depicts Raye Montague visualizing a U.S. Navy Oliver Hazard Perry-class guided missile frigate, with a grid pattern over the sea evoking her digital drafting work at the Naval Ship Engineering Center. Inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ARKANSAS, and RAYE MONTAGUE.

The reverse-proof finish inverts the standard contrast: fields are frosted, devices are mirrored. On the Arkansas design the inversion reads especially well across the polished hull and mast cluster of the frigate, which catches light as a bright reflective silhouette against the satin sea. The grid pattern carries mirror-bright surfaces that gain a metallic sheen they cannot carry under the standard proof treatment, and the inversion suits the engineering-drawing motif of the design because the original concept was already a digital draft. Most examples certify Cameo or higher under PCGS and NGC reverse-proof standards, with PR70 examples not uncommon given the small mintage and careful capsule-and-set packaging.

Market position reflects both the tight mintage and the closed distribution channel. The 2025-S Reverse Proof carries a meaningful premium over the standard 2025-S Proof and is the format buyers reach for when assembling a complete 2025 Arkansas run across all four strikes. Recommended certified at PR70 for registry pursuits and raw inside the original reverse-proof set for collectors keeping the program intact. The badge stays Regular per program convention; reverse proofs are not classified Key Date, and the 30,000-piece scarcity is conveyed in the prose rather than the badge. The Reverse Proof Set program structure is covered in the American Innovation Dollar series history.
